On February 24, 2018, the Traverse City Housing Commission gathered along with the friends and family of former Housing Commissioner Richard G. “Rick” Michael to dedicate a small memorial in his honor at Safe Harbor. Rick, who passed away suddenly in 2017, was committed to making a difference in the way his neighbors find and keep housing in the Traverse City area.
The stain-glass artwork entitled, “Sunrise, a New Day” by local artist Brian Strickland was installed in the Chapel room at the Safe Harbor Facility on Wellington Street. We hope it will forever remind us that while we may fail to execute our personal and organizational missions today, tomorrow brings us another chance to try again.
